Roadrunner adds lanes into Virginia, Las Vegas

[ad_1]

Less-than-truckload service provider Roadrunner announced Tuesday the addition of eight lanes into Las Vegas and markets in Virginia.

The new lanes provide inbound service to Richmond, Newport News and Virginia Beach, Virginia, from origination points in San Francisco and Southern California. In addition, multiple origination points in the Midwest as well as Philadelphia will have direct service into Las Vegas.

Using routing optimization tools, Roadrunner (OTC: RRTS) continues to build out long-haul lanes of 1,000 miles or more in and out of major markets. The recent additions provide expedited service at standard LTL rates, a news release said.

“We are trying to build the best possible network that brings the most value to our customers,” stated Shari Leon, vice president of linehaul operations. “We anticipate these improvements will continue throughout the summer and beyond.”

Roadrunner recently announced a similar service into Denver and plans to launch inbound routes to Kansas City during the third quarter.

The company announced it had reduced transit times on 149 different lanes last month. In January, it launched one-day service between Southern California and Chicago for shipments dispatched on Fridays.

Following a financial and operational restructuring, the company has improved delivery times on 279 freight lanes over the last two years.

“We use our proprietary network technology to continuously identify opportunities for faster, more-reliable transit in our network,” said Phil Thalheim, director of linehaul analytics. “We work in lockstep with our Service Center team in vetting these opportunities to ensure they are implemented flawlessly on the first day we make them available to our shippers.”
